4 Tips on Exercising During Coronavirus Closings

Hello SAAKA Family!

We hope to find you and your loved ones in good health during these trying times. Our hearts are with everyone out there, especially the healthcare professionals working to defeat this pandemic. With many gyms currently closed, you may find it challenging to exercise. Even if your local gym is still open you may be weary to go there, we certainly cannot blame you! Given the situation we thought it would be helpful to offer some tips on ways to exercise that don't require gym equipment.

Please remember
while reading these tips SAAKA is in no way encouraging you to go out in large crowds. We do not recommend doing these tips if you are unable to steer clear of big groups of people.

  1. Planking
This is a great workout to build up core muscles without spending a lot of time. To plank, get into a push up position, however instead of bending your arms and moving down towards the ground hold the position with your arms extended. Start off holding the position for 30-40 seconds, then extend your time by adding 10 seconds every day.

  2. Go For A Run
I know, I am mister obvious right? But seriously! Time and time again we hear people skipping their runs. Sure, they can be boring and tough but it is a guaranteed great work out. Even doing 20-30 minutes can make a big difference and help you feel great. Believe me, no one ever regrets going for a nice run!

  3. Sit Ups & Push Ups
These two options are just downright classics. Sit ups have many benefits including core strengthening, increased flexibility and improved muscle mass. On the other hand, push ups provide a great upper body work out when weights are not an option.

  4. Go For a Walk After Meals
If the weather is nice, go for a walk after a meal! It’s a great time to get exercise in. Try making it a daily occurrence after dinner. Taking a walk is also a great way to get some fresh air after being cooped up in your home for extended hours
